The goal of this project was to give lightwood the ecological image that it deserves. In France, the use of wood often wrongfully gives the impression of deforestation. On the contrary, the use of lightwood is synonymous with reforestation.
This bag reuses materials and identity of traditional lightwood crate combined with linen fiber.
This project was made in partnership with the French light wood packaging industries union.
2010, designed with Arthur Kenzo
This picture shows a forest of poplar trees that are used for the production of light wood. Unlike first appearance, the consumption of wood has had a positive impact on forest in France as for any one tree cut, two need to be replanted.
Our work also focused on the technical aspects of production in order to realize a cheap and easy way to produce the product. The picture above shows the production process of a crate.
